Gave up.

Okay, so I came to a point where I had a chance to begin the big mod. But chose not to continue. Just did not have the drive to make the mod and move forward. Simply put, I've traded the Jeep for a new car. Economy has become the main reason to move on for me. Sorry to my followers, you know who you are. Now, it is time to put money away in case things come apart at the seems. Later!

Latest news

Okay, so the mod went smooth, but did not produce what I had hoped for. So, the next plan has begun. That started with taking the Jeep off the road, turning in the tags and getting it ready for a major change. I plan to make this thing ready for trails and rock crawling. I'm looking to put a four link suspension system in that will remove the leaf spring and I found one. They call it The Xtreme Coil Link (XCL) system made by Black Diamond suspension systems. Very nice system, a little pricey ($3100) but looks great. I'm eager to assemble the system. Next up is the next motor, trans and transfer case. I'll post pics as soon as I have them. Later!!

More about the big mod!!!!!

So, if you were wondering how it went. After installing the MSD Unit, header and modification of the intake assembly. It runs so much better. I do in fact have to put up with the intake whistle, but who cares. I know what is happening under the hood and understand why. So, I was thinking about engine swap to the six cylinder, but have now chose to leave the 4 cylinder in the truck. Even with 31" tires, it runs great and I am happy with it finally.

Let the mod begin

We start with opening up the throttle body opening in the intake. As you can see, the gasket is much bigger that the opening in the intake. But it won't be for long:

A few hours later, we have an intake that can breathe better. Can you see the difference? This is a 2.5L throttle body next to the new intake with the new opening.

Next, we open the intake ports at the head, I did not open them much mostly because, if look down the runners, the runners are actually smaller that the opening at the head.

So, next step, install the everything and get it running!!!! Yeah!!!!! Also, a complete MSD ignition system is on it's way to me. This thing monster should come to life very soon.

Purpose for the parts

So, more air + fuel = MORE HORSEPOWER!!!!!!! Oh yeah, now to find a performance chip that will turn off the stupid fuel reduction at 5000 rpm and tweak the rest.

Air flow

Yeah, the last piece of the next big mod has arrived. Say hello to the intake.

As you can see by the intake gasket marks, there is a lot of metal to be removed to make a smooth air flow.

The next pictures will be of the throttle body opening and what I'm going to do to that opening.

The next big mod

So, after some careful consideration, I've decided to change the injectors, mod the intake and install a header assembly in search of the infamous horsepower I spoke of in the very first post. The header (figure 1) finally got here and I want to make a small mod to it (figure 2).
